tincture of the month

$22.00

I forage or grow all the plants I use in my offerings right here in Vermilion County. All tinctures are crafted using grain alcohol.

Each month I spotlight tincture that calls out to those who seek its wisdom. I’m merely the medium.

August 2025: Meet Stinging Nettle, which was grown and harvested in an old bookcase in my garden.

Description: Stinging Nettle is a plant ally who's often misunderstood — and her survival depends on it. According to folk medicine lore, the nutrients and benefits of Stinging Nettle were once so desired by animals and human alike, she had to develop tiny stinging hairs in order to avoid extinction.

Her stingers naturally separate the people and animals who love and respect her from the people and animals who exploit and abused her.

She is also a common first plant ally for both the healers and the healing of the the Western world. This is because she embodies the full-arc of what herbalism stands to teach us: respect, nourishment, relationship, and transformation.

She gently nourishes energy, adrenals, kidney function, and supports the body through periods of stress and dis-ease. A daily droppersful goes a long way.
